LeBron vs DWade: A Trip Down Memory Lane

We certainly missed out on more of these blow-for-blow match ups when LeBron decided to jump ship and team up with Wade. But it certainly wasn’t a case of “if you can’t beat em, join em”, James won 13 of the 22 total head-to-head games with Wade. Both of them rose to the occasion for each game, LeBron averaged 29.4 points, 7.5 assists and 5.8 boards, Wade averaged 27.6 points, 6.7 assists, 5.5 boards and 2.4 steals each time they face each other.

Let’s take a deep dive into the best individual match up these two GOATS provided us. April 1st, 2006, it was the first time both players scored 40 against each other. LBJ had a sickening stat line of 47,12 and 9, give that man a raise. Dwayne himself had 44, 9 and 8. It was like when Brad Pitt and Eric Bana fought to the death in Troy, who is who can be debated. It was an all-out war, Wade dropped 21 in the fourth quarter, refusing to be outdone by James 18 in the fourth.

LeBron hit a clutch jumper late, had a put back on a miss and then an assist to Donyell Marshall for a lay up late. Cleveland eeked out a win, 106-99, but it was more about the entertainment these two provided us. You know each guy was motivated by the ball busting they would receive after the game in a conversation with the red wine flowing followed by a nice Cuban to puff.
